Meet The Team

Thandeka Xaba

Co-Founder

“I believe that any human-being with an open heart and the willingness to learn deserves the opportunity to do so. How many undiscovered Maya Angelou’s, Melinda Gates and Joyce Banda’s do we potentially have hidden amongst us, one opportunity away from stepping into their full potential? My goal through Tariro is to ensure that we don’t let talent pass us by but that we equip young girls with the opportunity to reach their full potential."

Sadia Dhorat

Co-Founder

"I want to develop the next generation of strong African woman, who will be leaders and change agents of our country and our continent. I believe that the Tariro Foundation has the potential to develop intelligent, responsible and powerful 21st century young African women, who in a class of their own, will contribute to moving our continent forward. The thought of being a part of an initiative like this truly excites me.”

Tasneem Karodia

Finance

“I joined Tariro because of the passion I have for developing young women. As a woman myself I understand how important is to have someone invest in your future and develop you- I want to help young women overcome the challenges they face and ultimately be success.”

Nondi Mbanjwa

Education

"As society moves towards embracing gender equality in the professional sphere, the limits on what women can be have lifted and this has created the opportunity for young girls to aspire to be whatever they want outside social conventions. I want to be part of the movement which empowers young girls to take advantage of these opportunities by helping them develop the skills, mind- set and character they need. Tariro Foundation is my means to do so."

Nyakallo Merafe

Education

“Tariro is a foundation which strives to create a platform for personal and academic development in young ladies and I am so glad to be a part of that. I believe that each person has the potential to create meaningful change at an individual level and provide opportunities for young people which Tariro affords us to do. Giving people the opportunity to change their lives is the greatest blessing and a wonderful opportunity.

I’m honoured to be surrounded by people who are in the business of building the nation by any means possible!”

Zakiyyah Bamjee

Entrepreneurship

“It has been said that the foundation of every state is the education of its youth, Tariro meaning hope is a mechanism for us to contribute towards the foundation of our diverse Republic. “

Lerato Nxomani

Personal Leadership Development

“I want to be part of developing a generation of empowered, confident young women who are both successful and socially aware, who understand that their individual success is incomplete without being committed to making a social contribution. A generation of young women who understand their power as women lies not in competing with men or seeking to emulate them, but understanding your unique purpose and pursuing it relentlessly. A generation of young women whose eventual success is not limited by humble beginnings. “
